Dryopteris submontana  •  Limestone Buckler Fern
Dryopteris submontana (Fraser-Jenkins & Jermy) Fraser-Jenkins; D.villarii (Bellardi) Woynar; D.villarii (Bellardi) Woynar ex.Schinz & Thell. ssp. submontana Fraser-Jenk.& Jermy; D.mindshelkensis Pavlov; Limestone Buckler Fern; Rigid Buckler Fern

Some years ago Fraser-Jenkins determined that Dryopteris mindshelkensis (from central Asia) and D. submontana (found in England, Spain, S.E. Europe, N. Africa and Western Asia) are in fact the same species. As mindshelkensis is the earlier name it should properly be known as that; however, it has not yet been widely adopted, so I have retained the name submontana for now.
