Trichomanes
Mostly small, terrestrial or epiphytic ferns. Rhizomes mostly slender, creeping on the surface; fronds mostly small, membraneous, varying widely in shape; sori on margins of leaf segment, mature indusium with protruding bristle.

Up to about 300 species worldwide, the majority in tropical regions. These have been split into many other genera by some authors. One species in Britain and Ireland.
