Anogramma | Small, rhizome very short, fronds clustered. Fertile and sterile leaves usually distinct. Veins free, sporangia elongated along the veins. No indusium. Leaf-margin flat. Anogramma is very unusual in that the fronds are annual but the gametophyte is perennial. The fronds develop each year from the gametophyte, whereas in most ferns the gametophyte dies back after the fronds develop.
5 species, distributed throughout tropical to warm-temperate regions of the world. One is found in British Isles (Channel Islands).
